Stella on the Issues
Stella is determined to accomplish the following if elected for the Water Reclamation District:
- Measurably improve water quality for both public and private use, and aquatic life, including: creating an action plan for prevention and detection of pharmaceuticals in drinking water and increased frequency of reporting metrics. Stella also supports establishing more convenient drop-off locations for expired medicines.
- Increasing MWRD’s public engagement and actively solicit public input. As an MWRD board member, Stella will hold regular informational meetings to make Cook County residents more aware of MWRD issues and how they impact current and future generations.
- Reduce tax bills impact on homeowners within the MWRD service area by implementing conventional waste water treatment technology to achieve Illinois water quality standards.
- Ensure more transparency and accurate accountably in all aspects of MWRD’s dealings whether it is in regards to leases, contracts, supplies, etc. This can be achieved through competitive bids and the creation of an oversight committee.
- Work tirelessly to ensure MWRD serves as an environmental steward, assisting developers, farmers and Mother Nature to co-exist. Stella believes that is our duty to preserve our natural resources.
We need to act now, with integrity and intelligence, to protect our precious natural resources.
We owe this to our families and future generations.
